The Welsh International Climbing Centre, at Treharris south or Merthyr Tydfil, offers gorge walking, top ropes climbing and abseiling, as well as indoor and outdoor climbing.

Walks
A footpath runs north westwards past the centre meeting a bridleway at GR SN919080. Turning left (south westwards) goes over Craig y Ddinas to Pontneddfechan. Turning right goes to Penderyn.
From Craig y Ddinas a bridleway runs north east to Sgwd yr Elra, the first of many attractive waterfalls in the valley.
